A Windowsill Garden

A couple of weeks ago I decided to try this.

Having not grown anything before,I thought Mini Sunflowers would be a good start. Vase, soil and seeds all in one box. I brought everything to work for my sunny windowsill.

First:I soaked this bag of soil over night.

Next: I carefully separated the soil in order to plant my seeds

Then I waited, and watered.

And waited some more!

Finally, on Tuesday, I came to work and saw this.

And more of the same today! A nice start, don't you think?
More updates as they become available! :)

Cool!

I just planted a bunch of spaghetti squash seeds in a big unused pot and now I have a jungle of vines outside...not sure if I'll get any produce but it feels good to grow something.

You know if there was an award for Plant Killer of the year... I would win it!
But last summer I had a strange urge to grow sunflowers... and weirdly enough they grew into huge beautiful plants... my thumb must have been greener that year!

Dawn, somewhere on my blog is the proof that I win the Plant Killer award. You'll have to dig a little for the photo. Try as I might it did not live in my home. :-(

Good for you Jess!

Having my hands in the dirt has always felt so good to me. Garden Therapy. Perhaps that is what I will do with my time this afternoon after work. Thank you for sharing. Great job!

You have a great weekend too!

Welcome Real Live Lesbian!
Thanks for stopping by. :)
Hmm, good question...I'm not really sure, but I'm thinking I might transfer them into a bigger pot. It seems like more want to pop up, but don't have enough room!
I'm off to check out your blog!

Thanks for sharing the visual progress of your mini sunflower project. It sounds like it was worth the wait. I'm looking forward to more updates.

Malcolm,
It was worth the wait! And tomorrow I'm going to try and replant them in a bigger pot. Hopefully *crossing fingers* I can get some more of them to grow.
