Christian Bale Freaks!

I'm sure you've all heard about this by now, but I just had to bring it up here.

Apparently, Christian Bale freaked out on the set of Terminator: Salvation. He can be heard here (beware there is a lot of profanity) belittling the Director of Photography.

All I have to say is that Bale is a complete jerk! He obviously has a LOT of anger issues.

In my life, I don't think I've ever heard anyone that pissed off. Can you imagine if your coworkers treated you like that. I'm thinking they would be fired!

He does not deserve to be Batman!

I've worked with a lot of people like him. The trouble is that they make so much money for others that they get away with being abusive. Makes me sick!

I was reading the comments where some people were defending Bale and saying the DP was unprofessional and should have know better. While that may be the case it still doesn't give Bale the right to go off like that. As a manager if I talked to my associates like that I'd be up on HR issues and probably fired. If he has a problem with the guy talk to him like an ordinary person, not go off the handle like that. I think the person being unprofessional here was Bale.

Whatever happened to common courtesy, respect and maybe, above all self-respect..?
Hope you're well and happy Jessica..:)

OMIGOD. Now that was just downright scary. I cannot believe how many times he used the *F* word! I would have been in tears... a puddle on the floor :(

Definitely seems like this guy has a short fuse. I won't get into the right/wrong debate, because we don't have the full story or know exactly what happened. Not sure there are too many things that would be deserving of this kind of tirade though.

Yea, but he does make a good Batman/Bruce Wayne.

Hemu,
Me too! :)

Lauren,
I know, he should not be able to treat people like that!

John,
I so agree with you. In the "real world" someone would be fired for treating an employee, or even a coworker like that!

Arv,
I would like to think not. :(

India,
You said it! Thanks for stopping by. I am well, and very happy! I hope the same is true for you! :)

Dawn,
I would have been right there with you. He was very angry, and aggressive. Scary!

Nik,
No, not many I would think. Too me, it's such a small issue for him to be that pissed about.

Chris,
Yeah, well..my image of him is tainted. :P

I liked Michael Keaton as Batman. But more important was cute Michele Pfeiffer as Catwoman.

Okay, Christian Bale does have what appears to be a serious anger management problem but, then again, this could be an isolated incident and he could have just been having a bad week. We've all been there, haven't we? He's human.

What I hate is how the press is making such a stink out of this by playing up this angle of "rich actor abusing poor, lowly DP." Last time I checked the Director of Photography on a big budget Hollywood movie was making pretty good coin. And the guy was being an incompetant idiot by screwing up a scene thereby wasting time and money (his screw-up cost that production thousands of dollars, I'm sure). Christian Bale probably wasn't the only one to rip that guy a new one -- just that Bale was the one caught on tape doing it.

I haven't heard of any other film Bale's been on where something like this has happened -- and the guy's been working in film since he was a kid, so until a clear pattern of behavior emerges, I'll cut him some slack because he's a brilliant actor and I enjoy his movies.

John I'm glad you came by and shared your thoughts on this. These are all really great points that you bring up. I guess I wasn't looking at things from that angle--it just really upset me to hear Bale going off like that. I think there are better ways to communicate with someone.

Stop by anytime!

We all have bad days, but I think Christian crossed the line. I just hope he was mature enough to apologize.
