The nicest thing happened to me today! While I was waiting for my morning bus, a woman came up behind me, and handed me her prepaid bus pass. I was taken aback, at first, because I couldn't figure out why she was giving it to me. (I already had my money in hand, ready to pay the driver) The women explained that the pass had enough money for one more day, and she had already received her new one in the mail. She could have used it for the last day, but decided to give it to me instead. I gushed and told her how awesome she was.
With the economy so crappy these days, even an extra $6...helps out so much. Just another reminder that there are good people in this world.
*Update* I wrote most of this post earlier....then I started feeling gloomy/blue. (not about the post, of course) When I came back to it, reading it made me feel a bit better...just knowing that I was the recipient of a random act of kindness made me feel good. So I would like to say thank you, once again, to the anonymous woman who decided I should receive her bus pass, this morning.

She's one of the 8 out of 10 people who are good.
The other two ruin it for the rest of us.

Random acts of kindness simply rock!
I am sorry you feel blue, I do too. But...it always goes away eventually.
Amazing that such a simple act had such a nice impact.
Barb,
I'm sorry about your blueness, too. You're right though, it always goes away. Each second is a fresh start! I just have to keep reminding myself of that.
D.O.M,
I know it's so great! :)
It's so nice to know that kindness and generosity still exist in everyday life. :) thanks for sharing!
Kudos to the generous kind lady! It always gives me a lift too when I get a free bus ride, usually when the coin machine isn't working properly! That's one reason why I switched to using prepaid 5-ride cards instead of a prepaid monthly bus pass.
Hi Chat,
Thanks for stopping by! :) Hope to see you here again.
Karen,
haha, yes when the equipment malfunctions it's certainly a great day to take the bus!
Wonderful story. To me, it is the random acts of kindness that bring tears to my eyes. The spur of the moment decision to help others, instead of self. Thank you for sharing!
It's good to have experiences like this, isn't it? Makes you less cynical about humans in general...
That's a beautiful story.
I love these meetings with God through people!
Very cool. I got a coupon handed to me recently while in line--it gave me the same feeling.
Thanks Kimmy, I agree! :)
Psych,
