![]() ![]() F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby Is Published (1925)Considered to be Fitzgerald's masterpiece, The Great Gatsby is a devastating critique of the American Dream and materialism at the height of the Roaring Twenties. It is the story of a bootlegger, Jay Gatsby, whose obsessive dream of wealth and lost love is destroyed by a corrupt reality. Today used as required reading in many high schools, the book has been cited as the paragon of the Great American Novel. Why did Fitzgerald dislike the title, and what did he want to call his novel? big white van (?)
Every time a child is abducted somebody always reports seeing a "white van" in the neighborhood. Always.
Delivery guy?
Bland-looking gas guzzler.
its a Chevrolet white van hope i could have a ride in it...and its a graphic picture as the tires r very small compared to the van..:)
urs..hemu..
maintenance vehicles :) (multi purpose, LOL)
Have a good day mate...
Repair or delivery truck. Wheels for a burglar. :)
Surveillance van. :)
i know it might sound even more silly than your question itself but my first thought was funeral car, then second one was "am i that dumb to think something like that?" :D
I think of some kind of utility van but since this one has no markings it makes me think of surveillance...like the FBI and/or bad guys spying on someone
Ambulance without a siren.... :)
2 seaters, multi purpose, made in China, electrical driven, suitable for fat momma and daddy :)
Armed Robbery...
Baby Snatcher...
Get Away Car...
White vans just sort of CREEP me out because the immediate thought that comes to mind is that they are doin something wrong.
But thats me! :)
when this van's a rocking, don't come a knocking!
Well, this is an Astro Van and it reminds me of similar (with windows)vans that were your family car from 1986 to 2003. But, that's just me.
Looks like a van for commercial purposes. I am really curious as to your question. Hmmm
What kinda crazy X-Files stuff is going on in the back of that unmarked (and pretty sterile looking) commercial van? Where's Skully?
Thanks everyone for playing along!! :)I loved your responses. lol
Welcome to Is, Sandee, and Broadway Matron! :) Please come back and visit. I promise most of my posts are more rewarding than this one.
Ok, here is why I asked: (remember this is silly)
For a long time now...my husband and I have referred to this specific type of van...black on the front grill, angry looking headlights, as a "mean van."
One day I said, "Do you think anyone else thinks these vans look mean?" :D
I couldn’t really do a formal survey…don’t think I would get a grant for that one!
So, that's when I decided to do this poll of sorts.
Interesting answers! Some of you alluded to the fact that the van was helping take part in suspicious activity. That can definitely be construed as mean! :)
Thanks again, guys! I appreciate your comments.
Ah Ha! "Mean Van" is the perfect summation. Or EVIL....
Bwahahahahahaha!
Hi Lori,
I thought so...it just fits so perfectly. :)
a delivery truck with a large gas tank and an owner unable to keep up with his fuel bills?
LOL! That is funny. Especially everyone's responses.
Fearless,
LOL :D
Drowsey,
I know! I didn't realize that my question would spark such funny answers. :)
