She Turns

She Turns

She turns around,
facing him, now
staring fixated, for a moment, on his features.

His, once stunningly clear, face seems contorted, and unfamiliar.

Moving forward, her eyes become wide,
hoping to find some sense of meaning.

His face, now blank, says nothing.

It’s over.

She turns around,
facing herself now
watching curiously, as her features slowly become defined.

Then recognition,
and a slight smile, as she continues ahead.
