The earth shakes, bellows, lurches,
opens beneath her feet.
Leaving her cold, she falls.
Leaving her numb, she falls.
extends a hand.
Slowly, she rises from the darkness into her new found light.

He helped write the constitution and pushed for direct popular election of the president.
