A Root Canal Tale

Clearly, I befuddled my dentist and his assistant with my tiny tooth, and curved root.

What was supposed to be an hour and a half root canal took three hours!

I didn't mind too much. I just closed my eyes and listened to Steve Hackett.

However, I couldn't help but notice the dentist's assistant huffing and puffing about the fact she had to stay late on account of finishing my procedure. Very unprofessional!

When they were through, my dentist opted not to do a final x-ray because, he said, "You are very hard to x-ray." I objected, but was too tired, and numb to argue much.

Anyway, I survived and lived to tell the tale!

Ironic, I think, is the fact that my tooth hurts so much more today then it ever did before I got the root canal. Aren't they supposed to relieve the pain, not add to it?

Crossing my fingers that by Sunday I'm feeling better!

Are you kidding me!?? March right back and get the x-ray and get that pain checked out and do not take his shit! Seriously. I am so sick and tired of medical professionals not following standard protocal. I'll kick his ass for you if need be!

I hope you feel better. I hate root canals...actually I hate anything to do with a dentist.

Hopefully, the pain is a temporary after effect of the root canal. When I had mine about 12 years ago, I can't remember if I had any temporary pain afterwards.

The dentist's assistant was way out of line with her grumbling about staying late. It's not your fault. Even if it was, she shouldn't be voicing her grief to patients.

Here's to hoping you have yourself a painless and restful weekend.

Time for you to find a new dentist. I'm about to.

I also hate anything to do with the dentist.

Best of luck,

The dentists wife

Ewww, just the mention of the word dentist makes me cringe! I hope you're feeling better by now. Both the dentist and his assistant don't seem to have been very professional with you. Not doing a final x-ray to make sure it was all set?!?! wow

Aw, thanks! You rock! He just called me, and I’m going to go in tomorrow. He said, maybe we should do an x-ray! Hmm, ya think?

Thanks John! :)

Thanks! And she WAS way out of line! So, what you have to stay late—at least you have a job. Ugh!

Yeah, she definitely is. :)

Thanks Anon,
He’s a nice guy…just very laid back.

Aw, thanks Dawn. :)

Oh no Arv,
I hope not! :P
Strep throat, eh? I hope you are doing much better!

Thanks. :) Good luck on Tuesday! I hope yours goes really well.

Thank you. :) I know, I should have made him do that last x-ray. I guess I just wanted to get out of there, and I was so numb that I couldn’t feel the pain.

I agree with Lauren, she has the right of it!

Oh man, though, I almost didn't read this post when I saw the title. My teeth are aching, just reading it!

Thanks so much everyone! I'm doing much better. The x-ray was fine, and he changed my bite a bit. Now all is well. :)

Other stuff going on this week too,so I'll have to catch up with all of you in the next few days. Take care.
